I skipped church today. It was unwise as they had a meal prepared for everyone, and when I say meal, it's like a wedding reception. The food is great. So I had one of those maruchan noodle bowls. I'm going to wal-mart this afternoon to get groceries. Although money isn't a big issue right now, I forced a budget onto myself. It averages to about $8.00 a day. Granted, most of my meals come from the cafeteria here, so it's not a problem. The weekend hours for the cafe (pronounced kaf) are mediocre, but the rest of the week it is tolerable. I am one of the few people I know who does not really complain about the food. I eat well at home, but I have a lot more fruit and vegetables to choose from here.
I'm working on a setting for something. It's hard to explain the theme. I've seen a lot of multiverse themes, and I'd like to shoot for something along that blurry line. The problem is trying to come up with a source for super humans primarily but also other beings. I'm not really into the whole vampire/werewolf genres. The closest thing I've ever had to a furry in one of my tabletops is a half-dragon for a homebrew system I have lying around somewhere. I think in the 60s it was all about radiation and mutation. With my science background, I wonder what I could dredge up. I don't want to go with a giant portal. I think the source will be a wide variety of sources, but I must resign to a shrug when asked how the people develop their abilities. I'm not just talking about flight, death rays, or super-strength.
Comics aren't just Western anymore. Creators have to take into account both sides when they want to build a foundation for stories to tell. My module handled that pretty well I think, but players want to believe the surreal when it comes to telling stories about the characters they love. Why should comics be any different?
I guess I'll link to my DA here. Most of my art requires reference pictures. I can modify anything I can see, but I don't really have a space to store all that stuff. I suppose I should just collect pictures on my computer and print them out as needed. It sounds more viable than spending hundreds of dollars on magazines. However, I do have my collection of comics. That should help, too.
